When you pick out a piece of jewelry, you want it to feel personal and real - not mass-produced or generic. At Zilu, we keep things simple and honest, using quality materials and natural gemstones so that every piece has its own character.

Almost every Zilu piece starts with sterling silver. This is a classic jewelry metal made from 92.5% pure silver mixed with a bit of copper. That small addition makes the silver strong enough for everyday wear, while still keeping its bright, clean shine. Sterling silver is a favorite for a reason - it looks great, feels good, and lasts.

A portion of our jewelry is finished with gold vermeil (pronounced “ver-may”). This means we coat sterling silver with a thick layer of gold. It’s a way to get the warmth and look of gold, but on a solid silver base. Gold vermeil is a step up from regular gold-plated jewelry, which usually uses cheaper metals underneath and a much thinner layer of gold. With gold vermeil, you get something that looks and feels special, but is still practical for everyday life.

Here’s where things get truly unique. Every Zilu piece that features a gemstone uses the real thing - not glass, not plastic, not dyed lookalikes. Because these stones come straight from nature, each one is a little different in color, pattern, and shape. That means your piece won’t look exactly like anyone else’s. The small differences and natural markings are what make each item interesting and personal.
